Empire Waist Swing Dress
I would love a dress with a more fitted top and a swingy bottom. A scoop neck, empire-waist swing dress, sleeveless ideally, but short sleeved would be ok too. I have always loved this vintage-inspired style, for being both feminine and flattering. I have a couple non-wool dresses in this style and a wool& one would be a dream come true! This image is very close to what I’m picturing, cut-wise, but the waist would be a bit higher (empire waist).

MsVickiLove this idea, especially with the empire waist. It's a style that is easy to dress up or down, and is almost universally attractive and comfortable.

SarahI would love to see this! Especially with a scoop neck or a v-neck (rather than the high necklines of many of the current sleeveless swing dresses).

McKennaI would love that with sleeves in a midi length.

shannonYes! Empire waist, but not with elastic. And I'd like to see it with 3/4 sleeves or sleeveless in French terry, with a scoop neck.

SusanAgreed that it should not be elasticized (that adds to the potato sack look for some of us more short-waisted people), and, of course, it must have pockets!

CJYes, yes, yes! I love the fuller skirt of a vintage dress and would LOVE something like this (and buy it in any colors that worked with my Autumn coloring and probably a couple that don't, lol!). I agree, I would love sleeveless or short sleeves and no elastic waistband!

Lacey DawnYES PLEASE!!! This is a “staple” dress. Like really, a build your wardrobe around this item dress. Casual, business, dressy, vacation. Swing styles can be lovely but some peeps want a dress that fits, not body con, but more fitted.

No elastic waistbands.
Lighter material for summer, a heavier one for the cool. Sleeveless, shirt sleeve, elbow length, long sleeve, flutter-sleeved. Get the body of the dress correct and you have sooooo many options for additional dresses to sell. Don’t forget shorter length, midi, & maxi options. And necklines, scoop, drape, v-neck, boatneck…possibilities are endless. -

ShannknWould like to see with no elastic in the waist. The waistline doesn't have to be super snug, just narrower than the skirt.

AliGreat idea. I love this style of dress. With a v or scoop neck, preferably something forgiving like French terry and please, please, please do it in a longer length.

LindsayI upvoted but would prefer cap sleeves to sleeveless.

LaurenI was so hopeful for the Charlotte, as many of us were, and it just did not have the flared skirt I was hoping for! I’m flexible on neckline and sleeves, I would just love one with an actual flared skirt!

ChristinI love this idea! like what they used to call a "skater dress"?? maybe consider a version of this with a regular waistline as well? :)

BarbI would love to see a lower neck line in a sleeveless dress with flared skirt. It would be a summertime fav!

Deirdre ParkesYes yes yes to Empire line 😍

Preferably with sleeves, possibly like Maggie or Brooklyn, but definitely pockets!!! Number 1 must have for me. The old Brooklyn material would be super for this as it’s so soft and swingy. And yes, fitted on top and swingy below bust would be amazing. I find the necklines on all my wool& dresses are really gaping.
Something similar to this but without the tie belt. And definitely no horrible scratchy elastic that always seems to be right at my roundest bit and rolls up and down in a very unflattering way!!! -

GwenMy vote is for one like this. This is a cheap Old Navy dress from years ago, but it fits me perfectly and is so flattering. It is a heavier fabric, so I actually think something like the Ponte fabric would work well. This one has side seams for shaping. I actually think the bodice of the Kalle could be a great place to start and then flare the skirt and play around with the sleeves and neckline. I believe this dress could work in both short and long lengths and would be great with pockets, as well! This is a very flattering style for most women!

MeganThis is my favorite style of dress and it works so well on many body types. I hope you make this and make it in plus sizes on the first release. Fat babes want stylish wool dresses too.

LauraI would buy this in Every Single Color you offer it in! Empire waist with sleeves would be my preference, but the above design is lovely too. It's what I would call a "skater dress" and the skirt should be at least close if not a full circle. I am Begging you to tackle this pattern. Thank you!

TiffI would prefer the dress to not have an empire waist because they look maternity-like on me. Otherwise, I would love it!

RachelThat doesn’t look like empire waist . That looks like true waist. And I like it.

PaulaI voted for this, too, but it's not exactly what I have in mind. My "wants" for an ideal Wool& dress:
1
Sleeveless- it's flexible to wear alone on hot days, or pair with T's underneath, as a jumper, or when using thin cardigans that would otherwise show the line of a short sleeve.
Higher waist, almost empire, perhaps defined by a seam for a neat, flattering look.
swingy skirt
scoop or v-neck, to show off beautiful collarbones.
French Terry fabric- descriptions of this fabric make it seem ideally comfortable and flattering!

RozeeYes! I would love that with 3/4 sleeves and below knee. I like a fitted tip with swing but not pleats. Basically a bit fit and flare with a bit more flare than is typical with Woolx.

Sue LynI love this idea but can it please hit just below the knee. So many of the dresses offered are so short
-

AndiYes! Empire waste but without a defining seam line. Horizontal seams and eleastic waist bands on dresses don’t do well on my body type. Scoop neck goes so well with empire waste. My preference is 3/4 length sleeve. Definitely plus sizes and definitely longer than Sierra. Please.

TerritaNot sure if this suggestion belongs here; but I'll take a chance! I'd love to have a dress with a fitted top (almost to the waist),pockets, and a loose/flowy skirted bottom (but not a true swing style. I bought this dress from a store like TJMaxx some time ago but would love to have it in a better quality fabric like wool/wool-blend/Tencel.

JamiTo my mind, empire waist means above the natural waist line, some place on the rib cage, sometimes fairly high. This type of dress would be my dream dress but in a solid, stripe could be fun. NO gathering at the waist please but a seam that appears as seamless as possible. The higher waist and full skirt lays nicely on a woman with broader hips. It is a feminine silhouette. Sleeves could be any length.

To suggest one other option would be something similar with a top something like Brooklyn, -

Molly RosemaryNice but not an empire waist! I’d want an actual beneath the bosom empire waist, not just high waisted.

Annealso would like this, but with no elastic or seam at waist. Prefer higher rounded neckline to v-neck (better for layering and jewelry) and of course pockets! I have a Liz Claiborne in a similar style that I love.... Black, of course, also a lighter blue-ish color, maybe Wisteria or the new purple?

KristiThis would be perfect, but I would also like a 3/4 or full sleeve option for cold weather. I agree, a non-elastic empire waist is needed!

Ideally V neck, short sleeves slightly flared or 3/4, knee length, Aegean Teal or any cold blue.
